FREE Mixed Level Pilates Mat Class

FOAM ROLLER/DEEP STRETCH CLASS

This class is not a Pilates class, but is a great class that we like to offer as a supplement to Pilates and other workouts for tight and sore people! More details below:

We teach you how to do a full body foam roller in about 1/2 an hour, then use props like tennis balls, dowels, and straps for self-massage and stretching. For the duration of class we stretch deep into your hips, hamstrings, calves, quads, pecs, shoulders, chest, and more. Also, we eat chocolate.

The class is about once a month.

Pre/Post Natal Group Pilates Class!

Wednesdays 9:30-10:30am (start date TBD) at Forsythia Hall

Optional BYOB (Bring your own baby! No toddlers please!)

This class will focus on getting you strong for delivery and building strength and stability after! We'll teach you safe, effective strength training that you can do at home and with your baby.

We'll work on abs, hips, arms, booty, upper back, and squats!

"First mat class free" is for LOCALS ONLY and applies only to Pilates mat classes at Forsythia Hall, not to Foam Roller classes or classes at other locations.


Pre-registration is required only for monthly series (beginner mat series and other series that we offer). You may drop-in by request. Class size is limited.

PILATES CLASS DETAILS:

Beginner Mat Class series:

Once (or more) a year we offer a beginner mat class series. Please let us know if you are interested and we will put you on the list..once we have a small group of interested folks we'll start the class!

Arms, Abs, Ass! Mat class:

Staying true to Classical Pilates, this class focuses on upper body strength, lots of core strength, and some booty building exercises! In the fitness world, this is the best abs workout. This class flows with a good rhythm, sometimes using props to help get the most benefits of Pilates. Get ready to sweat and burn! Mats and exercise weights are provided.

Modifications will be made for injuries and various levels of ability so that everyone has a challenge within the same exercise.

Classical Mat with Props:

This Classical Pilates mat targets the Powerhouse (abs, upper legs, hips, and bottom), using exercise weights and magic circles to access different muscles and deepen your core. Exercises will be broken down so that they will suit your body, for a workout to challenge your flexibility, strength, and control. Mats and exercise weights are provided.

Modifications will be made for injuries and various levels of ability so that everyone has a challenge within the same exercise.

Mixed Level Pilates Mat classes accommodate for a variety of levels. Typically this is an intermediate class with options to make things more or less advanced depending on your level. We sometimes offer Intermediate/Advanced and Beginner classes, but everyone is always at different levels, so we offer multiple options for many of the exercises so that everyone feels they are being appropriately challenged. We recommend that everyone take at least one private lesson before coming to mat class if you are new to Pilates mat. We use props like magic circles, dowels, weights, the wall, and straps to enhance the workout and keep it fun.

Intermediate/Advanced Pilates mat classes are not for beginners, but may be appropriate if you are otherwise active and not injured. Please contact us to see what class would be best to place you in. We recommend that everyone take at least one private lesson to determine placement into mat class. Props like magic circles and exercise weights are used to enhance the workout. Each week is a different theme.

Beginner/Mixed level Pilates mat class teaches the fundamentals of the Classical mat, incorporating exercise weights and magic circles. We allow beginners without major injuries into this class and cater it to the people who are there. We make sure everyone is getting a workout at a level that is appropriate for them.

Magic Circle Special:

Learn the real in-depth benefits of the Magic Circle..the original "thigh-master" invented by Joseph Pilates...this amazing tool can be used in the entire mat class to strengthen arms, inner thighs, outer thighs, bottom, upper back, and more to get the most out of your Pilates workout!

Modifications will be made for injuries and various levels of ability so that everyone has a challenge within the same exercise.

Reformer on the Mat:

The reformer is a quintessential piece of Pilates equipment. With four springs and a carriage that moves beneath you, you get a total body workout with spring resistance. This mat class will focus on reformer exercises. If you'd like to work on the real reformer, private sessions are available. Come see what it's all about!

Mat on the Wall:

This is a classical class using the wall as your prop! The wall supports you and gives you great feedback for some exercises, and further challenges you in others! This class is a great way to learn how to make use of your mat workout at home, and when traveling. A perfect compliment to your vacation, this mat class would be ideal in a hotel room!

Beginner Mat class series is offered for absolute beginners on occasion. Otherwise we offer the beginner/mixed level class. Please contact us if you are interested in beginner mat class. The Beginner Mat class series is designed for new clients to learn the fundamentals of the Pilates Mat sequence. We will break down various exercises and help you get a strong foundation for mat, equipment, and at-home workouts. We'll target your core, arms, legs, and bottom, using various props such as arm weights and the Pilates Magic Circle to help us. Experienced Pilates students also welcome, for those who want to slow down and get back to the basics of Pilates in order to strengthen their practice.

We recommend that everyone take at least one private lesson to determine placement into mat class.
